My name is Mari, freelance graphics & illustration artist from San Francisco, and this is a showcase of past artwork.
Always having a need for artistic self-expression since early childhood,
I'd constantly depict my surroundings using crayons, paints, clays, paper-maché, and any other medium lying around the house. When introduced to Japanese renditions, game art, and urban graffiti style influences, my style transitioned and became edgy with a vicarious theme of femme fatalé and deep-rooted rebellion toward society.
Always trying to incorporate realism and the liveliness of caricaturing, my style has never fully been one way or the other, but an interesting fusion of both.
I've worked with various illustrative and animation software, as well as several fine art mediums. Combining computer savvy, artistry, and coding knowledge, I also have a history of web design. My weapons of choice are pencil, charcoal, pastel and digital medium.
While continuing to learn, experiment, and hone my skills, I am currently residing in Los Angeles doing commission as a freelance artist and collaborating with a group of talented individuals on an upcoming clothing line that will feature unorthodox urban concept art.
I hope to create more depth-filled lifelike illustrations in the future, as well as grasp visual and motion graphic design that is applicable to the professional world. My dream aspirations is to delve into 2D/3D animation and bring the ideas in my head to life.
